Viral video misrepresents study to falsely claim Pfizer vaccine alters DNA

A video with more than 36,000 views falsely claims that a recent Swedish study found that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine can enter the nucleus of human cells and alter DNA. According to the authors of the study, this is a misrepresentation of their study and its findings. The researchers found that under highly specific artificial conditions—in liver cancer cells in a petri dish—some portion of the vaccine mRNA could convert to DNA. The study’s conclusion clearly states that there is no evidence that the converted DNA can enter the cell nucleus, where DNA is stored, or that it can integrate into or otherwise alter the cells’ DNA.
