Posts promote hoax COVID-19 detox products

Medium Impact
Misinformation

Several recent posts promoted so-called vaccine detoxification, including supplements and preprints that claim to have found a way to “switch off” mRNA vaccines. Both of the methods are being endorsed by an anti-vaccine physician whose company sells a variety of “vaccine detox” products that he claims will prevent the alleged harmful effects of COVID-19 vaccines.

The persistence of vaccine detox claims increases their risk. Debunking messaging may continue to emphasize that there are no biological means by which a vaccine detox can work because vaccines can not be removed once they have entered the body. Emphasizing that COVID-19 vaccines are extremely safe and don’t contain harmful ingredients that need to be “detoxed” is recommended.
