A so-called “analysis” of CDC data falsely claims to have identified 780,000 reports of serious vaccine injuries during the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, including Bell’s Palsy, heart inflammation, miscarriages, and seizures. Vaccine opponents are circulating the false claim that 8 percent of COVID-19 vaccine recipients, or 18 million people, experienced adverse reactions so severe that they sought medical care.
The persistence of this supposed analysis and its misleading conclusions, which have circulated multiple times since 2022, increases its risk. Messaging may emphasize that the analysis is based on self-reported V-Safe data and that there is no way to know if COVID-19 vaccines caused individual health issues that occurred in weeks and months after vaccination. The analysis did not specify “when after vaccination they received the care, nor did the data indicate what the care was for.” Messaging may also emphasize that these exact misleading data points and headlines from the same “bombshell” analysis have been circulating online since 2022.
