There continues to be confusion regarding the need to continue to follow public health precautionary measures (such as social distancing and mask wearing) after being receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. CDC and state and local health departments are updating guidance as new evidence emerges. Health organizations, including community-based organizations, are working hard to keep the populations they serve up to date. Explaining in clear language that updating guidance during an evolving pandemic is normal and necessary, and the reasons for these updates, while simultaneously ensuring these messages are delivered by trusted messengers (many of whom will not be health professionals) is recommended.
