About the Webinar
Public health is on the ballot, but the connections between public health and civic participation may not always be obvious to the communities we serve. Public health communicators can build a bridge for their communities, showing how voting and participating in local, state, and national government directly impact the programs and initiatives people use every day.
Making those connections starts with ongoing, long-term community engagement – the trusted local relationships that underscore the value and importance of a functioning, healthy government. In this panel conversation, leaders from across the civic health movement discussed how public health communicators can effectively engage communities to build trust and understanding in their work and the role of government in their lives. That trust leads to greater civic participation, which can support healthier community outcomes.
This webinar included presentations with data and personal experiences, followed by an in-depth Q&A to elaborate on the benefits of ongoing community engagement, clear messaging about the value of public health, and the connections between civic participation and public health.
