Communicating the Connection Between Civic Engagement and Public Health

Voting is an essential part of community health and well-being. Yet, only 52.2% of U.S. citizens 18 years and older reported voting in the federal, state, and/or local 2022 elections (Healthy People 2030, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion). Public health professionals can play a critical role in increasing voter registration and ensuring people safely get to the polls—all while remaining non-partisan.

While the upcoming election is consequential for the field of public health and our communities, voting is just one piece of civic engagement. Public health communicators are positioned to increase civic engagement before and between election cycles and communicate the connection between civic engagement and public health outcomes. In this webinar, learn new approaches to engaging your community through the lens of public health.
